Loads of sculpting updates

Woot woot! The first post of the year and I have some fun updates too. Firstly, i wanted to address the Alice's Collection's order. I had no problem with it, but I did want to correct some misinformation I provided about their shipping. They no longer offer free shipping except on orders of clothing or accessories totaling over $100. I had chosen the free shipping and everything went through, but they later emailed me about the shipping cost. They were super nice about it and even refunded some of the money to allow me to do a layaway.

The next update is about sculpting, and I've decided to record my progress on the head instead of keeping it a secret. In all honesty, I enjoy sharing my progress with others since that seems more fun and I hope that the stuff or techniques I've used are helpful to others, anyways there are more photos after the cut.

These photos are the progress photos I took after I stopped uploading them to Flickr and Instagram. Also taking progress photos are great because not only are you able to view your progress but are also able to prove that the sculpt is entirely yours in case someone accuses you of stealing or vis versa because you'll always have the proof.

Edit: Whoops, I forgot I was going to review my experience with Premier Clay. The most important thing I have to say is that I absolutely love the clay. It was soft, and easy to mold out of the packaging. It does take a while for the clay to dry, but it's worth it when ever you have to go back and edit a part slightly, Not to mention it can be mixed with LaDoll which is nice if you started with one clay and need more to add later. Although, I don't know how longer it'll take to dry, but I will report back once the body is all dried out. The layers on the body are thin, so it shouldn't take that long, but i'm going to leave it for a few days. Compared to Ladoll, I personally think that it's waayyy better. But it could just be the batch of clay I received. So far, my experience with Ladoll was okay. Out of the packaging, the clay was malleable, but stiff, I had to mix water in inorder for me to sculpt with it. It dries rather quickly, starting with the outside layers and going inward. But, Ladoll dries extremely hard, like I dropped the head and it still did not break or chip. To each their own of course, each clay has its own strengths and weaknesses, so really just go with wat works with you.

Here is the head with some work in progress designs of a chibi version of the doll, don't know where I would put it, maybe a certificate of authenticity or key-chain or sticker. Still working on the name of the sculpt since I'm not sure that I still want to keep MelonPOP or StrawberryPOP. But I'm sure that the name will come to me eventually.

I'm not sure when, but I covered the eyes with clay for the thousandth time because eyes are hard for me to sculpt. I might as well make him a sleeping sculpt hehehe...all jokes aside this in a way does help me to crave away a head shape.

This is when I made a last minute desion to try and make him a open moth sculpt, and of course I feel regret over the desicion. Below, I test the proportions between the head and neck. Also if you notice, his bottom lip has been craved off to make a better open mouth but now i'm just going to try and resculpt the lips.

I'm trying out two different methods of sculpting his limb and so far, I prefer making them separately. although I think I would prefer the other method of sculpting everything together if I made his core like a mannequin.
